Parking problems

Moved into my new house a few weeks back and the only place to park is in the communal car park at the back of my house that is for the residents of the houses and flats there.

main.php

My house is 338 and the red splodge is our allocated parking in front of our garage. As we have 2 cars this can be tricky as the parking spaces next to it are in use. The problem comes when one of the people in the flat parks his POS rusty car where the pink splodge is, meaning parking is an annoyance as I have to park at a funny angle with the chance of blocking someone else in.

This has been going on since I moved in, spoke to the site manager about it (David Wilson are still building homes here) and he said if it continues to be a problem let him know.

Got home after work and lo and behold his car is not there so I parked where the pink splodge is meaning my sister can get her car out if she needs to without playing musical cars. While outside having a smoke he pulled up and parked lengthways along the fence at the back moaning to his girlfriend that it was his space and I shouldn't be parking there, his girlfriend said something I couldn't quite hear and he told her not to bother.

So GD, how would you go about sorting this out civilly? Bearing in mind that the bloke looks like he would rather kick your head in than talk to you and you have no idea which flat is his? I can't wait for him to leave in the morning or come back, as he leaves at 6.30am and is back by 3.30pm.

Oh and I assume I am in the right here as there are no reserved parking spots there as it's too close to the entrance. What do you think?

Sorry for the long post.

speak to them before someone hits you with a rolled up newspaper whilst your mate films it for youtube

I would say that legally he is the one at fault here because he is the one parking in an unallocated parking space.

I would be careful about how you approach this as people can get very touchy.

Is there a way that he could park in the pink splodge such that you and anyone else would have no problems with parking, or is that not possible?

Rgds

I'd approach him and explain how it makes life difficult for you to get the car out of the red splodge space. Could he not park further round to the right?

As an OcUK forum member, why are you not living in a 6 bedroom detached house in Surrey with private parking?

:p DW - its a dig at the general 'snobbery' of some members!

My sister has already spoken to him once about parking and the problems it causes so he parked slightly more away so you could park 2 cars straight, one behind the other, now he's gone back to basically dumping his car. Today was the first time it was moved in a week.

I would speak to him, but I have no idea what flat he lives in.

if you dont know which flat he is you could always leave a note on the car expressing your concerns. or ask one of your neighbours an see if they know if they've lived there longer or seen him come home etc

Next time you see the local yobs hanging about, go out and lean against his car. Then shout at the yobs, "I'm sick of this, any of you ****s ever touch this car again and I'm phoning the ****ing police. You have been warned"!

HAHA

Why doesn't the OP just park his car in the pink splodge?

Not a lot anyone can suggest if you don't feel he's approachable - means you'll have to tell your site manager and hope he sorts it out.

Either that or damage the car every time he parks there, and hope the message gets across.

Um..... why not ask them what you should do?

Bloody hellfire!

I have two cars and not enough space so i politely asked my neighbours if there was anything we could do. One said"i dont have a car, knock yerself out", and i got their space for nothing.

If only i could have consulted the internet first!!!

park in the pink spot all the time, even leaving your bay empy. Its the only way he will start looking for a space elsewhere. if he questions you tell him its not a space but as its infront your house its fine for YOU not him to park there.

Tbh i would be so tempted to just get a mate who is away for a weekend and get him to block him in

Buy a cheap car that you don't need to use and park it in the spot and leave it there, in a position that is suitable to allow you into your space. Buy it and park it there late at night so nobody knows that it belongs to you.

Spoken to the site manager a couple of times, lately either the site manager has been on holiday, or the car owner has.

Every reserved parking spot is in use, hence the problem. There's not enough space for every car round here, which is crazy.

Did that this evening and will be trying to do that as much as I can, although it seems to be a race as to who can get there first.

I just find it crazy that he thinks that is *his* spot and just because we have a garage and 1 allocated spot we shouldn't park there, because of course, that won't make it difficult to get the cars in and out.

Now its just a battle of commitment. Stick with it. Also maybe speak to the site manager about getting no parking lines outside your house at that section.

Or if he can stick a few bollards there or the fold down bollards with locks that pop up :D

I was tempted to install the fold down bollards myself, but wasn't sure if I would be allowed. Don't think I can do much with regards to the no parking lines or bollards anyway as I think the car park will be getting a final layer of tarmac at some point.

Is it actually possible for him to park in the pink splodge and it allow you to park your cars without a problem? i.e. is there a way in which he can park there which will not inconvenience you?
