Parking sensors or reversing camera? What would you choose

At home of course :p
Both options come out at similar pricing, but the reversing camera is slightly more. Which option would you choose before I book the car in.

I've used reversing sensors before so am quite comfortable with them. Never used a reversing camera before but I imagine that's more accurate than the sensors since the sensors ive used give you a solid tone when you've still got a reasonable gap of about 20cm behind you?

Given the option, both. IMO camera is worthless without the senors.

If the option to add the camera to my A6 wasn't extortionate (I've got no TV module so i've got no video in options) I'd add it.

Ooh, hadn't considered that. I suppose adding both won't add much to the labour rate so probably won't be much more in terms of cost.

Had a reversing camera on a car I rented in the states, thought it was a fantastic bit of kit, took a few times to get used to it but well worth the expense, especially if you have a large car.

If it isn't that big I find parking sensors cope just fine.

A pity you don't fancy drilling a few holes and running some cable,
parking sensors are £20 and an IR camera plus LCD maybe £70.

Annoyed that nobody sells a sub 20cm sensor, it's not like the technology isn't available and cheap.

And how crap will that look if the car has a way of integrating these kinds of systems properly?

I wouldn't just go hap-hazardly adding a cruddy secondary LCD display to my dash when I have a nice in-built one.

Even fitting the correct parking sensors, control module, buzzer and loom to my A6 cost more than the £20 you seem to think you can get them for. Even with used sensors (new everything else) it cost me £200 to fit them, properly.

Installed these a few weeks ago and they've been working great. I'm yet to reverse into anything. Not as sensitive as the OEM ones I had but when I got a new bumper I didn't want to drill holes or add anything unsightly to the rear.

These work from the inside of your bumper so no change to the outside of your bumper. Quick and easy to install as well.

Put a camera on mine as it only cost the £30 for the camera and wiring itself which then integrated into the civic's nav unit.

It's been great, very useful day or night (you find the lights on the rear of the car help illuminate things - it's supposed to have some sort of night mode but it's not really needed). I find it very useful for judging the back of the civic as it's a bit of a nightmare to guess, set it so that the last on screen bar is as close as you want to be to any car and you're laughing.

Of course you can't rely on the camera or sensors alone - used as an extension of your own senses and mirrors either are useful though. I don't personally feel I would ever need/want both

Pretty sure mine is sub 20cm and it cost £30 brand new

Didn't use screws either.. Just hot glued it in place

I had the parking dynamics ones on my mondeo, worked just fine, although my first install wasn't great and failed after a few months, was a lot careful the second time around.

Go for both - I opted for that on my new company car (Golf Tech Match) and they're both pretty handy, to aid with my awful parking :D

I'd go for both too if it were me, if going for just the one, sensors are probably the most useful as the generally cover a large area then the camera which sees on straight behind and not off to the sides a little.

But where does it go in?

It is still sticking out right? It looks awful from that picture.

There's a space up inside the light cluster for the cable to run (after flatting off the plastic slightly), you can't see it from the outside - the camera itself on mine is tiny and sits tucked under the light cluster and is barely noticable - that's just a bad angle. The oem camera is bigger.

There are number plate holder cameras and bumper mount cameras if you didn't want it there at all - not sure i'd bother though
