Hi, done a search and can't find anything recent (some website links from 4 years ago that no longer exist)

Bought a car recently and discovered it had no parking sensors (had a thread about it) 3 months in I have reversed into a wall. Luckily it's just a small bumper scratch, so I have decided to get rear sensors. Local place quoted me £450 for flush ones fitted and £300 for non flush ones fitted.

Clearly this is a huge cost when there are do it yourself kits for less than £50. Does anyone have experience with fitting these that could recommend a good kit please. Also, not being very brave regarding removing bumpers, connecting the wiring etc. Would a garage be expensive to do that side of it?

It’s £300 because of labour involved.. or just be more careful when parking up. Another alternative is a reverse camera.

easy fitment if you have access to the rear of the bumper.
i think i covered this on another thread but hardest part is finding a suitable grommet to thread the wires through into the boot, the wireing connections are red+ to reverse live wire at rear light, and black- any clean body bolt .,
usually there is either a display that plugs in and you thread the wiring to the front dash area or a bleeper that just plugs in and stay behind the trim at the rear.

a must is a roll of masking tape to mark the centre of the bumper, then using the height measurements they give you space the eyes equally, making sure you have access behind all of them.

i find on the 4 eye units not to position the outers too far out in case they pick up side obstructions.

the cables to the eyes are numbered so make sure you get them correct otherwise you may end up with the furthest eye having too short a cable.

one thing ..ALWAYS ALWAYS measure twice and drill once. easier to move the tape than fill a hole:)

most kits include a hole drill the correct size.

used to take me on average about a hour to fit longest part is planning the holes and access points, should be easy for a first timer in a morning or afternoon.

I've done it before as above got to wire it to the reversing light.

It wasn't obvious on my Volvo as all the wires were off colours (several green etc) but I just used a multimeter and checked when I put the car in reverse to see which circuit it was.

The good news on mine, the places each one of the four sensors should go was actually already marked out on the inside of the bumper, volvo clearly make them all with the template, then only actually fit them on the higher spec model.

You can pull your own teeth with a rusty pair of pliers. Why pay exorbitant dentistry bills?! :p

most bumper covers on new cars come off surprisingly easy a few clips and screws always mark on masking tape before removing then easier to drill. maybe you are lucky and they are pre marked on the rear. fit the eyes and tapethem up in a loom and pass through a body grommet . honestly thats the hardest part.
