Not sure what the score is with parking tickets nowadays but a family member got this.

Any ideas? She left the site for all of 5mins to meet a friend then went shopping on said retail park. So whilst a fair cop it's annoying.

Cheers

Aye, ignore. As said, it's a charge, not a fine. You are not required to pay the charge. You are required to pay a fine.

And once again, please take some proper advice on a forum such as Pepipoo. The standard "shred" or "ignore" posts here are ever so worrying - a bit of keyboard warrior I'm afraid.
The guys at Pepipoo will give you far better advice - that may well be ignore.

So what makes the posts above wrong?

You realise the people that post on pepipoo will very much be people like us.

Ignoring this is very much good advice.

That "ticket" is meaningless. The OP should wait for a letter to come through the post. You will find often the parking operator doesn't bother, or at the very least it's something to think about in a few months time.

Once that comes through, ignoring it is still good advice depending on the person.

I would always ignore. They can prove their case in court, (something which they are far less likely to do if they haven't established communication with you), in which case they can have their £100 if they win. Until then, they are random people asking me for money.

Ah another parking ticket thread, someones already pointed out, a few of the guys over on Pepipoo can offer some proper advice

Ignoring went out the window when clamping was banned and the registered keeper being held liable was introduced (although this is only if they can follow all of whats set out in the POFA 2012 Act)

No it didn't.

I have probably had a dozen of these "charges" over the past 3 years. For each one, I know I would be able to put up a good defense in court.

I bothered to respond to the first one wasting so much time where they just stopped responding after I got to the stage of asking for the POPLA code. It's obvious they don't even read appeals and evidence. Never wasted my time on these things since.

Start with ignore and if they REALLY start to push it (more than just a few snotty letters), maybe respond to them. But don't even talk to them before then. The idea is to make it as difficult as possible for them, waste their time/money and they will give up.

Surely the correct response to this is:

Parking attendant No.13290 is mistaken, here is a copy of the receipt to prove I shopped at the site in question. Unless you are able to provide evidence to the contrary, I now consider the matter closed.

Any further communications will be charged at the following rates:

Letter: £50
Phone call: £30/30 mins
Email: £20

Back in the day I used to go out of my way to collect these bogus parking charge tickets and ignore them until they gave up.

No idea about the situation these days, some say you can't ignore them anymore as some have been taken to court. No idea is that is true or not who knows.

I might be expecting one soon in the post after overstaying the RVI car park as they now seem to have number plate recognition cameras up.

I've ignored a few (Non-council) ones over the years and never had any comeback.

I think "Private Eye" sent one twice, but that's it.
