I expect to be +10k shortly......

Plus, depending on prices Sunday - I may upgrade my Q6600 Rig to a i7 2600K.

We shall see....................

Mine seem to be clearing pretty quick.....

On the up side I've now got my i7 930 stable (with H70) @ 4.2GHz and DDR @ 2000MHz.

Also, the i5 650 stable @ 4.3GHz (on Air) & DDR @ 1870MHz.

Finaly the Q6600 seems to be holding 3.24GHz and DDR @ 900MHz.

Lets see what can be done now.........just hope everyone else don't go getting the 2600k before I get chance.

Well Sir......

I accept your challenge - even though Mid Rig has just thrown a spanner in the works - I still accept.

Hopefully, I can get it running in some shape or form.

:D

I wonder if I can back up both versions of windows using Win7 - and re-install on replacement hdd's?

Back later - gonna try something.

Well, still won't boot with failsafe bios settings - looks like it's a hdd issue........

Me thinks I won't be able to create an image of winxp either if the hdd's are bust :(

Oh well - new hdd and a re-install it is then - but for the time being it's Win7 for seti & climate prediction.

Gonna try to repair XP before I order new drives - might get lucky.

If not - will image just in case I can manage to get it to a new drive.

On a side note - should have a replacement for the i5 650 in a few days so output should increase - if I can get the Q6600 up and running again.

Might return the rigs to F@H after I reach number 20 - just to see if I can challenge the top earners.

Further update:

New Case (Thermaltake V3) arriving Friday - Wee Rig to be transferred to it - i7 860 (lapped) to replace i5 650 with H50 (lapped to cool it) - 2 x GTX460's to replace 2 x GTS250's
WinXP Home Edition has arrived - New install will take place to replace WinXP Pro on Big Rig - GTX460 will take up squatting rites alongside 2 x GTX470s
Mid Rig - will take residence in Wee Rigs old case - 2 x GTX460's to be replaced by 2 x GTS250's

Second Gen i7 Rig will start build in 6 - 8 weeks (depending on oc'ing issues currently surfacing - and failing cpu's) - this will take up residence in Mid Rigs current case (Fractal Design R3)

Once the dust has settled watercooling project will resume on Big Rig.

Nice.........

I think I managed around the same.

First attempt at repair WinXP didn't work - looks to be a hdd problem more & more.

Have resized the partitions now - and moved XP into an area which should be OK - trying to repair again - but will order some hdd's in the mean time.

Edit: Repair didn't work - keeps locking up

No idea whats wrong now - as Win7 is on the same hhd's in Raid 0

Additional: Gonna try a clean install on some space I freed up in the same hdd's

Additional Additional: Clean Install Works - Guess I'm Gonna have to wipe Old XP and clean install (oh the joys)

:( :( :( :(

Normal Service has resumed.

I must have really upset Windows XP - no matter what I tried I couldn't salvage it.

Anyways, formatted the XP partion, did a clean install, installed all updates - voila.

Two days lost - but should be ok now.

Running under different PC name - so will be able to monitor stats more effectively (until I give it away).

At least I've now got a fresh install with non of the rubbish one tends to collect.

Gonna be close on getting to 20th spot - just hope the 860 gets here soon.

Just realised CPDN was only getting half my Q6600. Easily rectified for two more cores. :)

And the stats update has run - Team OcUK reckons you'll be 10 days too late, but there's no sign of any fat lady just yet. :)

I've just locked the door on her - not getting in here in the near future.....

Output gonna be a bit low today/tomorrow......I've been busy :)

i7 860 is now installed - wee rig now has a new home (Thermaltake V3) looks good.

Running @ 4Ghz (on air Tuniq Propeller) - temps @ 80c.

Should be ok until I can get the H50 on it - but that won't be until Mid Rig gets upgraded.

Gonna drop a few points on seti too - my 250's have been hijacked into some video converting.

Not Happy - Pretty sure I'm gonna loose this race.....

Still, you had a big enough lead.

Anyways, the reason I'm not happy is:

The i7 860 is running a little hot - has spiked to 88c (too hot for my liking).

So, I've ordered a better cooler - Thermaltake Frio and some Scythe Kaze (Jyuni) fans to see if I can make it a little cooler.

Just installed 6 of the fans on my i7 930 rig (Corsair 800D) and I must say they are nice and quiet and certainly shift enough air. Cooled my rig down somewhat too.

But Alas - I think it's too little too late to get to 20th before you.

Looks like I'm upto 2nd spot in RAC - should top the list tommorrow......

The 860 is now stable @ 3.99Ghz and the 930 is stale @ 4.125Ghz.....

Should net me around 11k ppd.

The Q6600 has now been upped to 3.6GHz but only active 50% of the time - so I'm hoping for around 2k ppd.

Even with this improved output - looks like I will still fall short.

oh well - sh!t happens :D

Update:

Thermaltake Frio arrived today :)

Has been lapped aswell as the i7 860 and placed nicely back into the rig.......after a slight mishap.

I was kinda trying the Frio out on the MB without CPU in place to check on clearances and inadvertently bent a few pins on the CPU socket - oh dear me thought.

So, after a few hours with a rather large magnifying glass, a craft knife and some tweesers I got it looking something like it should do.

Everything went back into place - had to reorganise the cables a little to accomodate the new fans but all is well.

Prior to the Frio temps were around 65/70c @ 3.7Ghz & 1.25v.

After upgrade temps are now 60/65c @ 4.2ghz & 1.4v.

Might spend a little time tomorrow checking OC to see if I can reduce votlages somewhat and keep stability.

But overall, I'm happy.

:D :D :D

Me got:

Q6600 @ 3.42GHz - 50% of the time
i7 860 @ 4.0GHz - 100% of the time (stability issues @ 4.2GHz - no time to sort it yet)
i7 930 @ 4.2GHz - 50% of the time (trying to clear cache so that I can install winxp 32bits)

The Q6600 may be finding a new home soon and I might replace with a 2600k.

 No chance of me sneaking past you! :)

I've set myself a little challenge to get into the top 10, it's going to be a slow trundle up there though :D

You're probably right......

Looks like I'm back on top for RAC, but......

I'm somewhere near clearing my cache so I can install WinXP 32bit (instead of WinXP Pro 64bit), however, SETI has gone and thrown a wobbler. Guess I'll have to wait until they get their servers back up so I can upload all completed work.

Just my luck eh......

You're in luck anyways.....

My big rig has been transferred back to F@H whilst the upload issues were getting resolved. I thought I would use the time to clear my cache and then re-install WinXP (Home Edition) - I've only got 4 items left to upload and then the re-install begins.

Also, my mid Rig has now found a new home - so I've lost the Q6600 from the cause.

Finally, two of my 460's have also been relocated to new homes (not that it will effective this) the third has been re-listed (knew I should'nt have had the auctions finish all at the same time). The two 470's will hopefully be moving on tomorrow (auctions permitting).

If all is successful I shall be pressing the buy button for some nice new shiney things (to wc Big Rig CPU & MB).

Other than that I'm good :D

p.s. I did notice you were giving me a chance :)
