Dear Mr Diogenese
You have but a few hours left to vacate cell 31.
As you drop into cell 32, you can feel privileged to be occupying the same cell number as the OCUK overall team rank.
Yours sincerely
Mr Neil

PS I left it clean and put a new lick of paint - nice shade of magnolia :(

Cell 31 is just as I found it, I haven't been here long:(
I'll probably do some decorating to 32, I might keep that for a month or so!

I can see a 'puter upgrade coming on as this one is becoming mighty unreliable, even with native ubuntu it will crash every couple of days. It's back to stock now too:mad:

You don't happen to have anything to do with Foden, do you?

bah I hate getting persistantly stomped and hardly ever catching up with anyone :o :p

sorry to hear about even more PC problems dio - you tried any kind of fault finding or just not got the time at the moment?

I had to take a part-time cruncher offline most of this week due to instability - it's the wifey's PC so she wasn't best pleased when it blue-screened in the middle of writing an ebay listing
I think the main problem was the mix of RAM I had in it (should probably have slackened the timings more when I added a 3rd stick) but that was remedied with a 2nd 512MB stick so only 2 slots filled again now.
Also the arrival of a holy drive blanking plate today from nice Mr Sculptor has got the temps down a few degress and also has the PSU behaving a little better

Anyway get on with the stomping! :D

Rich, I have run memtest for 12 hours with no faults, Orthos for 24 with nothing but both XP and linux only last for at most 5 days before I get a bsod or a hard reboot. I can't think of what else to do apart from the 'bay and a shiny new E6600 bundle;)

edit/ it might be X1900XTX related, I have quite a few ATI related errors in the system log:(

E6600 bundle ordered, probably not enough to catch you up now but it should stop me from falling any further for a while:D

That was fast  - from not thinking about a new PC to ordering one in 3 days. I salute you.

I woke up this morning to a quiet room and it had fallen over again so I thought I had better get things sorted out:D
I might try native ubuntu again too:eek:
