...I can't hold off his hardware, I think he has built himself a small server farm - he has 16 Xeons and 2 GPUs (and I don't think they're running 24X7)! My two small upgrades that are planned for the next 6 weeks will not stop him, so I'll just have to stand to attention has he goes by.

Yes.

But initially I need to slow down the rate at which he is closing, so my first job is to sort out my CPU cooling so that I can bring it up to its 4 gig potential. This is now in hand, and will be sorted within 72 hours. There are still a fair number of setup tweaks working their way through the RAC cycle, and I think I will top out at about 15.3k with my current setup once everything has run 'as is' for a month. After my cooling is sorted, my cunning plan can take shape. I can foresee 3 headaches during that process (all software related). It will actually cost less than I had originally planned to spend on updates over the next two months, and will result in higher than planned output - so it sounds like its a good plan - to me! It will be tight, but do-able. Of course, if he increases his output by too much more than his current levels - I really am stuffed as my personal rules for this game do not allow the use of current 'high-end' hardware (Fermi class GPUs, Hexacore CPUs etc). I cannot accelerate my expenditure either, and I need to keep a careful eye on my electric bill or install a pedal driven generator that I can sit on whilst I work at my computer
