New distro: Parsix.
Downloading it as we speak. Hoping it will replace my somewhat bloated ubuntu install.

Parsix GNU/Linux is a live and installation CD derived from KANOTIX and based on Debian. It is a complete GNOME centric desktop oriented distribution.

I'm somewhat worried that the website quotes Persian keyboard support as a feature... But I'm gonna give it a try anyway. It seems to me that it combines a very similar level of useability to Ubuntu with Debian testing apt repositories (better choice of software, newer versions of said software).

Anyone else tried it?

It looks good. I haven't used it, but it seems to be another nice Debian/Gnome-based distro. let us know how you like it.

Keep in mind that Ubuntu also draws from the Debian unstable/testing repositories.
