Part ex question

I'll no doubt find this out on the weekend when I ring around a few garages, but generally, can you buy a bike from a dealer with a lower value than the bike you want to use as a part ex, such that you walk away with a different bike and some change?

I've had the GS a year, and while it's a great bike, I fancy a sports tourer again. Honda VFR1200's can be had for around 6.5k -7k, however the GS is probably worth around 8.5k - 9k. I realise I may need to sell privately, but thought I'd at least explore this option first.

Yeah, I think that'll be the case. And yes, the multistrada 1200s is amazing, my dad has one and I'm insured to ride it. I just fancy something different to him. We usually swap bikes so it's nice to have a variety to ride around on.

On the topic of selling private, would you allow Test rides? I'm not sure i'd buy a bike without one, esp privately, but having said that, I've seen a few ads where sellers do not allow test rides. I presume this is to stop people turning up for a free ride...
