Hi guys, I'm looking to build a HTPC and want to use some of the old parts that I will be replacing from my PC.

My PC upgrades are:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Replacing with - Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Intel X25-M Mainstream 80GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (SSDSA2MH080G2K5) - Replacing with - OCZ Agility 3 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (AGT3-25SAT3-120G.20)

Already replaced my ram but what I would like to use in the HTPC is: GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (GVP38GB1600C9DC)

This is my order that I am considering:

Intel Core i7-2700K 3.50GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £249.95

ASRock Z77E-ITX Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £123.98

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST3000DM001) £106.92

Sapphire HD 7750 Low Profile Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £95.99

OCZ Agility 3 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (AGT3-25SAT3-120G.20) £94.99

Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020047-UK) £49.99

LG CH10LS28 BD-ROM 10x BluRay ROM / DVDRW SATA-II Optical Drive - Black (OEM) £49.99

Sub Total : £643.18
Shipping : £10.50
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £130.74
Total : £784.42

This will be the case I'm going with for the HTPC:

MonCaso 320

Could you please give me some advice before I place the order? anything you think I might be better off with?

Cheers

An Ivybridge CPu (retail so it includes a heatsink) - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-404-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=567

Do you need an i7? whats the PC to be used for besides a HTPC?

And a Gigabyte motherboard that has WiFi - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-417-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2071

Samsung SSD - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-161-SA&groupid=1657&catid=2101&subcat=2103

Finally a retail Blu-Ray drive will likely include some playback software.

hi stulid, cheers for the quick response. I forgot to mention a few things, my bad.

The HTPC will be with XMBC and would like it to have 3D to go with my 3D tv. Hate using my ps3 for films :P

My current pc is my main/gaming/video editing. Trying to get into streaming which recommends an i7.

The heatsink, I'm unsure to go with one from the Retail or get one from another brand?

Use the retail heatsink and then get one later?

If you do a decent amount of video editing etc, the the i7 could be justified:)
