Partial text based adventures?

Random query but are there any partial text based adventures, where you type in what you want to do, but there are actual pictures showing you the place you're in / person you're talking to etc.

A lot of the old sierra games (Kings/Space/Police quest, leisure suit larry etc.) were a bit like this. Not sure if they stand the test of time though.

Nope. They are sill pretty popular. They are called Interactive Fiction now. Check out ifdb.tads.org for loads of them to download.
