Hi all,

I'm sure you guys get this a lot, but I'm looking for a new gaming machine.

My current rig is in ok nick, but it's starting to flag and it's foibles are getting annoying.

I'd be happy to move my existing optical drives and sound card over, and I'm considering only getting an OS and core apps SSD drive and using my 1TB mechanical drive for data and less demanding apps.

I need no speakers, headset, mouse or keyboard and my monitor is serviceable, but I'd like to move off VGA if I can (I don't have space to dual-screen). I'm also limited to wifi (living in a listed house makes running cable rather costly)

Budget wise I'd like to spend £800ish, but while I can support hardware, I cant spec for toffee. Help please!

I wasn't expecting a response this fast - thanks!

Given the relative limits of VGA compared to HDMI, is it going to be more cost effective to go for a better computer and keep the old monitor, or go for the better screen and suffer a performance hit?

Can you list full spec for existing system, especially make and model of Psu?

Will do - give me an hour to get home.

My PSU is definately shot though - its switch is reversed (0 is on 1 is off) and it needs to have the rear switch toggled in conjunction with the faceplate switch to boot...

Getting a new monitor would earn Brownie points with the missus - she has a tiny, low quality one =p

PSU: I cant find the make or model of this - theres only generic warnings and S/Ns on the device and I no longer remember what it was !
