Hi guys last time i built a new PC it was August 2012, surprisingly its still holding up well but ive started having that upgrade itch and figure rather than a new system i might look into upgrading monitor and GPU.

My current specs

I5 3570k @4.4 (Ivy Bridge)
8GB DDR3
Gigabyte Z77-D3H
670GTX
LG W2261 (22" 1080p)

PSU is a Corsair 650w

So id like some suggestions for a good monitor/GPU combo.

My main concern are whether my CPU will be a bottleneck and also concern over the PSU being enough to juice a newer more powerful GPU.

- monitor wise obv i want higher res than i have current.

budget £600 but im open to suggestions as theres possibly a bit of stretch room if need be.

thanks for the quick reply mate, had been browsing the store after posting and had actually not considered whether i wanted Nvidia/Amd when making my original post, so i admit im not a fanboi so im up for the best i can get within my budget.

That monitor does look pretty sweet with the lack of bezel, are freesync monitors specificly for AMD hardware out of interest?

Im also keeping an eye on the MM incase i can see a well priced higher spec GPU than i would be able to afford new in my budget.

Yup - Freesync for AMD, Gsync Nvidia

A comparable Nvidia card would be the GTX980 but it's a little more expensive and has half the VRAM (although 4gb is plenty for gaming right now to be perfectly honest). They trade blows well so pick whichever you prefer. If you do choose Nvidia you'll probably have to forget about G-Sync as the ones above 1080p are considerable more expensive

Thanks for the recommendations there jono, 390 deffo seems to be a popular choice. Im also more keen on the monitor not tying me to a particular brand of GPU that way its also future proofing incase i change gpu in the near future.

Not familiar with the monitor brand but ill deffo consider it as an option :) has a decent hexus review with the main downside being the stand
