Morning all,

I just reformatted my PC with Windows XP after getting sick of Vista.

The long and short of it is that my 500GB media drive (which I believe I formatted in Vista) is no longer accessible! :( In disk manager the partition is displayed as a GPT Protective Partition. I've got no idea how it can be protected as I didn't touch bitlocker :S

Please can someone help me recover my media drive!!! :(

Cheers,

That smells like the only way back is to put Vista back on, back-up the data somewhere, and restore it to an "old style" NTFS disk.

Were Microsoft reading the "How to lose friends and alienate customers book" when they released Vista?

A read-only driver for this type of partition in XP wouldn't kill 'em, I'm sure.

When installing Vista, can you choose between GPT and MBR?
You can choose GPT and MBR. Evidently I chose GPT.

The good news is that I managed to recover all of my files using a program called GetDataBack for NTFS :D << This prog should definately be added to the "useful apps list".
