Just a quick one.

Which software do you think is the best to use to partition your hard drives?

Think am gonna go with installing another O/S as I've got so much space and none of it is getting used.

Chears.

Hi,
I use Norton Partitionmagic (yep gotta pay for that one), but it has done everything I've asked of it including resizing and adding partitions.

Yer, I have heard that one is quite good but anything that starts with Norton I'm a bit suspect about. :P

Ditto on the suspect...I only use Norton Partitonmagic and Norton Ghost...2 brill tools and they don't leave anything running in the background. ;)

Terabyte's BootIt - Absolutely rock solid and it can also do boot management (and allow for up to 255 primary partitions), and basic imaging. At the moment, it can't handle drives/partitions greater than 2 Terabytes in size, but this limitation should be lifted later this year, according to the developer.

If its to make adjustments to a current system, I use Gparted.

Otherwise, I'd just use the partition tool as I install Windows.

+1 on that... Used gparted the other day to move / extend a partition, v happy considering it's free. As above, if you don't need anything fancy use the one included in the installer / OS.

GParted

better still, download the Parted Magic boot cd.

It's a free disc, containing GParted and loads of other useful recovery tools

It's a bootable ISO, under 100mb

Better than the norton crap, more functional than Acronis & Paragon. and best of all, 100% free

I definitely agree on the suspect bit but iirc Norton Partition Magic isn't a true Norton product, they just purchased it from somewhere else and put Norton on the front of it.

I'm sure I've got one of the Partition Magic disks somewhere, before it was a Norton product.

I've been using Partition Magic for years and never had any problems with it.
