I am not sure if this is the right section so please move if not.

I am looking at getting a new laptop with a 120Gb primarry SSD and a secondary 1Tb spindle hard drive.

I was wondering if there is any recommended configuration of drives when it comes to partitioning or should I just stick with the OS on the SSD and the games/programs/data on teh Hard Drive with no partitions ?

In the past, I have partitioned Programs from Data from OS but I kept running into size issues where some partitions filled up faster than others so not sure if there is any benefit.

I've just set my laptop exactly the same, my SSD is use exclusively for windows and programs while the 1TB is used for actual files.
I've moved all of my folders such as my documents, desktop etc over to the 1TB.
No partitions.

If it's got two hard drives, I wouldn't bother partitioning them. In Windows, set your Documents/Photos/Videos/Music to the hard drive.

Thanks guys. That is what I was thinking.

In the past, I have done just that with my data, set as many of the Windows folders to use the Hard Drive eg [My DOocuments], [Internet Cache], [Downloads] etc.

My only concern is that the 120Gb SSD may not be big enough for the OS, programs (like Adobe Premiere/Photoshop Elements) and Games. Am I worrying for no reason ?

I would leave caches on the SSD. It depends how many games you have. If you only have a handful 120GB is a decent amount of room.
