Hi all

I have been having problems with partitioning my harddrive, I am using partitionmagic 8.0 (I think) which come free with a pc mag and it comes up with an error message, anyway is there any free software or something within Xp home to do this?

1 last thing, I brought my pc from a shop that puts a load of junk pre-installed on my pc and a partition already on there (if this helps).

sorry to be basic in what i have put, at work atm.

Cheers

Calm down, some of us have to go for lunch ;)

What are you trying to achieve here, reduce the size of the partition holding your C: drive to allow you to create a new one for a D: drive?

You're pretty much stuck with PM, there aren't that many pieces of software out there that can do this and I think all of them you have to buy. The error message is the key thing here, that'll determine whether or not PM will touch the disk.

BTW, does it have Norton GoBack installed, or any of the other Norton packages?

yea thats it, decrease C: and make a new 1, but i already have a D:, but thats locked apparently.

It had norton on but i unistalled it

ok, the software I'm using is called paragon Partition Manager 8.0 personal.

The error message is

Operation "Check System File" cannot be completed because volume C: is being used now.
