I've been using Partition Magic for a long time with WindowsXP, but it doesn't appear to work in Windows Vista. Does anyone know of any software that does what Partition Magic does, but works in Vista?

Thanks,

Michael.

I successfully installed Acronis Disk Director on Vista x86 using Microsoft Virtual PC. You have to run it as an administrator, though. I've no idea if it would work on x64.

Then just boot from the PM cd and use it that way. At the end of the day, it's still an NTFS file system and PM still does the job, just not from within Vista.

Hmmm, I didn't know disk management could merge partitions, create new partitions and move data etc. Can you tell me how to do that (never delved into disk management that much, just basic formatting and partitioning).

EDIT - I've had a look around, and disk management doesn't appear to be able to do what Partition Magic does. It can shrink and extend partitions, but not when there is data on it. Pretty pointless!

EDIT - The Acronis software doesn't work in Vista.
