so I got my Asus maximus vii hero board back which I swapped round with my msi gaming 5 board.

I also got an i5 4590 a few weeks back in a deal and after upgrading my nieces GPU to a 970 I had the EVGA GTX580 sitting spare. I also finally got my replacement PSU from Corsair

so I had all these parts siting but no home for them.. I then got offered a Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-ALPHA case for £20 locally..

so here it is..

i5 4590
Msi Z97 gaming 5
EVGA GTX580
8gb 2400
kingston 240gb SSD
CX750M

I removed the hard drive caddy as fitted the SSD behind the motherboard tray

I would like to get another 2 120mm red LED fans one for the front and one for the rear.

its going to live in the dinning room come games room and should hopefully keep my youngest off my PC

plan is to upgrade the GPU at some point but wont be going daft with it.

Im thinking on getting a plate made up to run down the motherboard tray on the right hand side and around the bottom off the mobo to hide the cables and the inside of the side panel. my thoughts would be getting this made up so I can fit the SSD onto it so it can be seen but having a cut out for the sata and power cable to go through.

Nice mate, good deal on that case its pretty new to the shelves isn't it. Its nice to find a use for the graveyard of components we keep :)

Yea pretty chuffed with the bargain I got on the case. My youngest has nicknamed it the spider man computer... I'm glad he's happy as it will be for him to use.

But yea its good to see the spare parts getting used. I'm chuffed on how its come together.

Just need to get my overclock sorted on my own system now and ill be happier. I've got it running at 4.5 with a lower vcore than I had on the MSI board and its stable but the temps are 10c higher. Think I'm needing to repaste the die as its a delided 4770k

Liquid metal on my delid 6700k and some gelid extreme on the IHS sorted my own 10 degree temp increase so highly recommended!

update on this... the 580 died..
I got another 580 to drop into it that had 3 80mm molex fans strapped to it.. It was a tad noisy but kept it going.
My wee misses got me an Msi 980ti for my birthday a few days ago so Ive dropped my old Msi970 into this.. silence at last!!
its going to be getting my old 4690k in it in a few days and the 4590 is going into another system.

the wife's plan is to buy VR later this year as a joint xmas present for the 2 boys so this will be the system to run it.
I would imagine with a 4690k with an overclock once I upgrade the cooler and the 970 with a wee overclock it should happily run VR

a wee update..

so thanks to the great guys at OcUK with there competition for the ID-Cooling Auraflow RGB 240MM AIO my lad has now had a nice wee upgrade on his cooling.
Ive fitted my old 4770k into this system and my old MSI GTX970 gaming so its now got a decent spec.
It was running a stock cooler but now has a nice AIO unit in it.
it was a tight fit I had to remove the heat sinks from the RAM to get the radiator to sit in place.
Ill keep my eyes open for some low profile ram and will then refit the heat sinks to this stuff.
