Hi everyone,

I'm looking to put together a new PC, my current one is head off to another family member.

I use my computer for programming on linux and largely opt for good parts to give the machine a good length of life and not have moments of getting sluggish.

At the moment I'm looking at these parts:

I just wondered if anyone would swap out any of the parts, recommend other parts due to horror stories or just where I've been stupid and clearly things won't work well together.

The reason for the 2 x 2TB hard drives is for a NAS to store big chunks of files I don't need directly on my machine.

Also happy to take hints on other things, like alternative cooling solutions to stock CPU fan.

Thanks in advance for any feedback or info.

Matt

Thanks RJC - I knew there would be something stupid. I missed the socket name difference
Also the H87 board cannot overclock. Get a Z87 board instead to pair with the 4770K so you can give it a small bump on clock speed even if without increasing voltage. Also, that case would actually take a Micro-ATX board:

Also you don't need to get a SFF PSU...just get a modular PSU that doesn't exceed 180mm and you should be fine:

You could consider getting this:

(No WiFi, but it has Killer E2200 Ethernet though)
