Hi all,

I was hoping for some good advice ahead of tomorrow when I'll be looking to replenish some of my old kit.

My current setup is:

Asus A8N-SLi Premium Mobo (found to be faulty, hence replacement needed)
Enermax Liberty 620W PSU (again, found to be faulty, replacement required)
AMD Athlon X2 4400+ Skt 939
Leadtek Gfx Card - SLi card (although only running single card at moment)
Corsair TwinX DDR PC3200 2GB (in 1gb sticks)
Seagate SATA HDD

With my mobo and PSU found to be faulty, I'm looking to the opportunities for replacing these parts. Obviously Socket 939 mobo's aren't readily available anymore, but its still an option.

My other alternative is to replace the core components: CPU, Mobo, RAM, PSU with up-to-date stuff which will be faster than my old setup.

This is where I wanted the advice!

What kit should I buy to replace or update the build?

I'm not necessarily stuck to AMD, so happy to move to Intel if the performance is better (I do a bit of gaming, internet surfing, word processing etc).

Basically, I want the max setup out of the budget without overclocking. I also want good quality components that have good warranties etc.

Budget: £180 (might be able to stretch a bit...)

Thanks!

Andy

Your PC is roughly the same as mine. Garbage. :)

I'd hunt around for a good deal on a PSU and old 939 mobo to tide you over until you realise you need a full system rebuild.

But essentially the kit I need is a full rebuild. I don't need anything out of this world quick, but just thought I could improve over my current (previous before fault) setup. An old 939 mobo will still cost new around £50-60, and same with a PSU. I could just get all new kit and have a quicker system.

Whats the verdict then between AMD or Intel?

So would I not just be better keeping my CPU then?!

Why are they in demand so much!

Can someone give me a decent spec that will be quicker than the old build?

I need a working PC and therefore don't have time to wait for "deneb" (whatever that is!).
