Just been looking at a quote for Barclays insurance and they can do me a fully comp quote for me as a main driver and my mum as an additional on a 1.9 Fiat Grande Punto Turbo Diesel for £2632.

Bell can do me the same quote on the same car but for £2117.

If i do my pass plus, with Bell it doesn't do anything at all, where as with Barclays it will bring it down to £1800 fully comp which is more like it :D

Just wondering if anyone has some info on pass plus. My driving instructor said that he can do it with me.

I hear it's an extra 8 lessons, but what does it consist of and who asseses it?

EDIT: Just got a text from my instructor saying it's £100 and no test.

Seems a good deal.

Thanks,

Andy

I believe its 6hrs, 2 of which are town driving, 2 hours on the motorway and 2 in adverse conditions - there or there abouts.

Can get you a nice little discount and should help you in that first year. Plus, extra driving courses can't hurt - so I'd say its a very good idea to go for it. :)

6 hours and this also includes motorway driving and there is no test, those quotes are expensive, have you tried other insurance companies? admiral/elephant give good deals so do norwich union.

Norwich Union want £3100 lol

It's because it's a 1.9 Turbo Diesel, hence the big quotes.

I don't mind spending under £2k for fully comp cover :)

What group is it?

Diesels are normally a lower insurance group than petrol engined cars.

lol you should do it definitely.
Ive got to renew my insurance end of this month, Admiral just quoted me £3000 for the 10month one , thats on 1.25 fiesta :/

There looks to be a 120Bhp and a 130BHp sporting, the 120bhp is group 6 and the sporting is group 6. Not overly high groups.

£3000?? I got a quote for £1300 fully comp on a 1.6 MX-5, im 18 with 0 NCB and about 1 and a half years driving.

0 no claims, driving about 10months in same car. its a pish take!

Anyone know any insurers that do things like 10month accelerator ? That are valid for every insurer and not just their own, as directline do this but theyre expensive :/
Admiral do it and theyve just quoted me £2079.41 with £150 voluntary excess for the 10month bonus thingy, but is it only valid for Admiral ? :/ ( and thats with my mother on the insurance! )

There is nothing on their website about pass plus. The license type is only full. There is no mention of pass plus. I am with Barclays and also have pass plus, however not sure if they do accept it. :S

How do you guys pay your insurance, anually or monthly?

I can afford both, but what's the best way or don't it matter?
