Becoming an ADI

So I'm not hijacking Dr Who's thread more than I have already, today I passed my ADI Part 2 driving test with zero faults on the first attempt.

The ADI Part 2 allows for a maximum of 6 driving faults, as opposed to 15 for the L test, and marked to a higher standard. Thought I had made a couple of driving faults so was a complete surprise to have a clean sheet.

So onto Part 3 after a couple of weeks driving like a madman in Italy!!

We done, onwards and upwards as they say. I found part 3 very enjoyable and good fun. Do you have a 'training buddy' sorted.

Cheers guys. It's a good feeling, honestly wasn't expecting a clean sheet. When I first went out with my instructor I think the mock test I racked up about 30 driving faults and 3 serious faults - lack of observation being the main issues there, but easy fixes once get back into the habit and routine.

No "buddy" sorted but I'm going to be going down the PDI route so once I get the 40 hours in to sign off on that, I'll gain some experience with live guinea pigs, I mean pupils, as well as looking to pass Part 3 during those 6 months.

Looking forward to getting stuck into Part 3 once back from holiday.

Dr Who - good luck for 5th June.

So after 40+ hours training, I now have my trainee licence and first few hours of lessons with paying pupils. Nothing like the training you get for the Part 3 (instructional ability) test which is rather contrived.

Very interesting though, definitely seems to have been the right choice going down this path.

10 months from first enquiring about becoming an ADI, today I passed my Part 3 test - instructional ability. First attempt at the Part 3, was a bag of nerves sat in the car with the examiner/pupil before it started in earnest.

Been on the trainee licence for a couple of months and would recommend that route if people are unsure - gives you plenty of real life experience and builds confidence that you do know what you're talking about so you're a little more prepared for the Part 3.

Now the hard work begins!
