Passed on sunday so I'm now 9th Kup in Kickboxing :D

Before the belt colour nazis get here - white belt with orange strip middle of the belt that runs it's whole length. :p

We mark the completed sections of the sylabus with coloured tabs at the end of the belt. So my old white belt has about 6 tabs. New belt is clean :/

Tonight will be the first training with the new belt.. so it's going to take some time to wear in again!

Nice one. :) I have no idea at all about kickboxing, how long did it take you to move up belts and how long have you been doing it?

I started in July, there was a grading earlier however there's a minimum time of about 1.5 months 10->9th, 1.5m 9->8th. Then it goes something like 3 months 8->7th, .. overall I think it takes 3 years to get to black if you grade on the dates however you're invited to grade rather than it being a given thing. That also assumes attendance twice a week.

9th is always special as it's the first belt you earn.

In the class, the odd thing is that you know now that the white belts will be watching you.. so you you do feel a little more pushed to ensure the move is technically correct.

My fitness has gone through the roof. I started just after I did the london to brighton bike ride. Although fit for endurance, this is a completely different fitness. I was absolutely dead by about halfway through the first lesson.
Our "warm up" is based on the SAS training and it's nasty - it doesn't seem to get easier you just seem to be able todo more but at the same time I'm starting to enjoy the torture!

It's given me something to aim for - made me work harder than I would at the gym and in the end I've gained something. To be honest I'm enjoying the journey :D
