Took it this afternoon, having been riding again regularly since February.

Was a bundle of nerves right beforehand but once we started the 45 minutes just flew by. Picked up 3 minors, 2 of which I knew I'd committed.

Straight down to the local bike shop and I pick up a brand new ER-6F next Thursday (got a great trade in on my Varadero).

There's not much summer left, but I ride every day anyway.

Very excited!

well done, hope you have many dry days of fun. Keep it grippy side down and remember that it's covered in special paint which makes you invisible to other road users

Congrats to you both. Funnily enough I passed my test around this time last year. There was all the talk at the time of how hard the new test was going to be, so I'm glad that I did it then as if I had known that it wasn't going to be that much harder, I would likely have put off doing it longer.

I also went straight down the garage and bought a brand new Er-6f! I think it's been an excellent starter bike and a real hoot to ride, plenty of torque low down and i was never afraid of gunning it due to its relativley modest power. As a comparison my friend went on to pass his test 3 months later and got a brand new Zx6-r and although it is a far quicker bike, he dosen't ride it to its potential due to the fear of finding a hedge too easily!

I'm not saying buying a super sports as your first bike is a bad idea, as yet my friend has had no issues at all nearly 9 months on. And his bike will doubtless last him longer than mine (I forsee a ltd edition CBR600RR on the horizon...). There is no doubt however that I am the more confident rider at the moment, and that my riding has improved quicker than his has. Wether this is down to just individual ability, or the fact that I feel comfortable with what my bike can and cant do in a given situation as opposed to his more tentative riding is open to debate.

Ha that ended up quite long for just a 'well done' post! I like the new styling of 09 er-6f as well, so colour me jealous. I hope you're getting one in kwak green!

I wanted the green, but sadly that one sold a week before. So now it is the blue instead, as I can't wait the 2 months quoted for the green.

I really enjoyed the test ride of it before buying. I was both terrified and captivated by the power of it once fully opened - running flat out through 2nd and 3rd was an experience, and funnily enough, my immediate thought was "This isn't even a sports bike!".

Doubtless by next spring, I'll think I need more power, but at the moment, it seems to be a good reliable commuter.

Does anyone have any advice on how to scrub the brand new tyres in, especially at this time of year when it is increasingly wet and cold?

Congrats, got my mod 1 on Monday, hasn't stopped ****ing down here most of the week, lol, I should be ok, just still given the chance would rather do it in the dry.
