Passed theory test 3rd time lucky lol

I disagree.

I sat my bike theory test yesterday and it forced me to learn the rules of the road, and I picked up a lot of useful advice (what to adjust for a passenger etc) that I may not have known about.

Yeah, that's pretty much my biggest concern with getting my bike licence.

No matter how careful and sensible I am, there's no predicting what other drivers will do.

you'll be ok aslong as your sensible and keep your witts about you,esp at junctions ect always expect someone to pull out on you

you can always open it up and enjoy some speed safely on the right roads ect

remember your lifesavers aswell,i always do mine even still

well done, failed my first theory. pass the mod 1 and 2 first time with 1 minor on each part, luckily I rushed to do my bike test just before the new law/rule changes came it.

First well done on passing. However I disagree with this bit, you can learn to anticipate what other drivers will do by their driving behaviour and general road positioning. Even making eye contact with vehicles pulling out of side roads to make sure they've seen you, otherwise be prepared to stop in-case they pull out.

You'll learn to predict, especially on a bike. Every few days there will be 'that' car that I just know is going to do something stupid. They might be sitting at a junction, absolutely no problem, but I just get that feeling so I ease off the throttle a little and more often than not they do something stupid as expected.

As above as well. Eye contact or try make eye contact so you can guarantee they've seen you, look at the angle of their wheels, look at if they're rolling, sit in their mirror so you can see them if you're behind (which also puts you in a good position to see if the cars in front are turning or braking), put yourself as far away from danger as possible (e.g. overtake a driver being weird and move to the other side of your lane at a junction so if someone does pull out there's the max distance between you and them, or even to the other side if they're creeping and it's clear!).

The list could go on. You pick it all up the more you ride.

Not trying to sound like I know it all here either, I have a massive amount to learn. Only been biking for about 3 years now I think it is.

Oh and nice one OP! :D Get your mod 1 and 2 done before summer has been and gone!! Are you going for the full A licence?

Its a disgrace that there is no compulsory questions regarding motorbikes/scooters in the test. This alone would help raise awareness for bikers.

Also be very wary of the new danger of the road Hyundai i10`s these are driven by mad people.

The hazard perception video quality pretty bad making it hard to spot anything long range :(

Anyone know how much the mod 1 or mod 2 are ? I was told that mod 1 is like a CBT but with a 600cc bike?

Thanks.

There is a separate motorcycle theory where you get a few specific motorbike ones. NOt sure if they're compulsory though.

I read somewhere that advanced/experience riders & drivers can actually struggle on the hazard perception as you can often see the hazard before you're actually supposed to click and so get 0 points for clicking too early, plus the quality really doesn't help as you said. Why they've not gone HD I don't know, it's not like it'd take that long to re-film some new ones.

Mod 1 and mod 2 are nothing like the CBT. The CBT is basically unfailable unless you're really unsafe.

Mod 1 is all off road, manoeuvres, u-turn, emergency stop, etc. have a look at the layout maps they have online

Mod 2 is on road stuff, exactly like a car test.

Not sure about pricing atm, but it's all on the DVLA website.

I had a deal on the phone with my Instructor 500 quid All in, He said He'll get me through for that, Any extra lessons included. I passed both first time so we both won.

Not sure what the latest tests involve, but I did my mod 1 with nothing but YouTube help and then I went with the guy I did my CBT with for MOD 2. A days and half training plus MOD 2 test fee for around £250.

well done with passing, ive tried it twice and failed on the hazzard part both times i can passed the questions part twice with 49 but i seem to be having real problems with the video bit first try i was one point short as i clicked 6 times throughout a clip and the second try i was worse . Ive been driving a car since 1998 so i didnt have to do the video bit back then :) and i consider myself a fairly safe and steady driver (no accidents or convictions).

My plan was to do cbt theory and then das but ive decided to get a 125 to learn some skills on and im thinking i will probley start trying the theory again next year, its kinda knocked my confidence failing it twice :(

good luck with your next steps though ;)

When I did my CBT, I rode around on my sons CBR125 for around 800-900 miles, enjoying myself then I did the Direct Access... the 125 I think made me a 100% better rider... constantly shifting through gears etc...

I spent 13 months on 1T's & I am 6ft 5 & was bout 45 years old at the time. :D

Shall I get the pics out, **** it why not. :p

My Chinese Chopper that everybody said would break down fall to bits & would lose me loads of moneys. Had it 13 months went everywhere on it thrashed the knackers off it & sold it in the same condition I got it for what I paid bar £150 quid.

Also had a 2 stroke NSR which was the bike I was on when somebody pulled out on me & I did my Stuntman act. :D

Rebuilt the 2 stroke 3 times had loads of fun & it was damn quick for a 1T, I had just got it 100% perfect when I went for a test ride & Blind **** pulled out on me.
1T's are great fun if you get the right one & I feel I benefited for spending 13 months on them.
