Good Morning

I have been pondering for a while what is the best course of action as to passive water cooling.

I was originally looking at getting a Zalman Reserator for my old rig, an AMD Athlon from the dark ages. Then I decided to upgrade originally looking at a pair of passive 7950's so i thought no point in getting any water as itll bequite enough

Im not really looking for extreme cooling just silence as my computer is in my living room and i like to leave it on.

So heres my current spec

6400 C2D
8800GTX
2gb Ram
Asus P5N-32
Antec P180

Currently RMAing a Hiper Type R 530, may look at a Corsair 620w if i get a refund.

So really is it possible to cool this kit passivly? I have been looking at a pair of the XSPC 500mm Rads.

i have asked them about how much heat energy they will disapate but no one got back to me??

So what do you think good idea??

Your post is a little confusing - are you wanting to cool the old AMD rig or the current C2D one?

If you are not looking at overclocking the cpu the zalman will cope fine - might even do a mild overclock. As for the 8800gtx - I wouldn't dream of cooling that passively.

Sorry about that.

trying to cool the new rig!

How about with a single rad with fan after the 8800GTX before feeding to the passive

Oh and i wont be using the zalman i dont think it will disapaite enough

I would probabbly use a pair of these passive rads http://www.xspc.biz/res500.php
