Passive CPU cooling

I currently have an Intel G840 with a Gelid SLIM SILENCE I-PLUS cpu cooler although reasonably quiet when new after a case swap it seems abit nosier. I would prefer a silent/passive cooling solution. The case I'm using is the origen ae M10 so the cooler needs a to be low profile and my current cooler is 28mm so I need something similar if possible. I'm curious if I swapped to a 35W CPU could I switch to passive cooling or is 65W still okay for passive ? Any help would be great
 
I don't think you'll get passive with such a small footprint.

You might want to investigate if the fan speed is stuck at top speed as maybe the case move has changed the fan control somehow.
 
Tealc is right. Low profile passive coolers are wither rare or rubbish. It will be worth investing In a fan controller or silent fan, if you can replace the one on your cooler.
 
What you need to do OP is get a water block for your CPU, then link it to one of these:

Its an Airplex Gigant and is supposed to be capable of dissipating up to 10Kw of heat which "should" be sufficient for a G840 unless you plan on overclocking in which case you will need a second :)

Why not just get 4 and make it a table?
 
10kw of heat dissipation? Christ thats a lot! A household electric heater is only 3000w max 10kw is never right

That's because 3000w is about the maximum an electric heater can draw from the wall without tripping something out (13 amp fuse at 230V = 2990w). The average central heating system has well in excess of 10Kw output.

The rads in it are four 840 rads (hence the name Gigant 3360), and the're Airplex heat ex-changers so more efficient than a normal rad.
