Passive Ram Cooling

Recently fitted another 2GB of Crucial Ballistix 6400 Ram, and reckon a bit of passive cooling on the dimms (and surrounding area) would be helpful.

I intend keeping things simple so thought about simply mounting an Akasa AK-182-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 80mm Fan inside the case and directing the airflow towards the ram, the only problem I have is, is there some kind of bracket thet I could attach the Akasa fan too, so that I can then in turn fit the bracket (with Akasa fan attached) somewhere inside the PC Case (Lian Li PC-60).

Or any other simple suggestion would be welcomed.

You mean you want Active cooling. Passive is how ram is uaually cooled. It just sits there.

There is an Antec Spotcool. it clips on and has a bendy arm. Dunno how good they are. But you will have to google it as OcUK doesnt stock them.

I think the Antec Spotcool is more the idea I am looking for, as it will not only cool the ram, but also the area around it.

millwall i think thats just for the corsair dominator ram, not sure if it fits any other, there is also a zalman fan bracket that you can get, although buying that + decent fan may be more than antec spot cool, id get the spot cool as its flexible.

It will fit any motherboard is it does'nt attach to the ram itself,it clips on to the ram retaining levers on the motherboard.

I managed to find the Antec Spotcool so just went ahead and ordered it.

i just used a couple of small cable ties to put an 80mm fan cooling my ram, went through the risers for the different mobo types

works fine.

in that case i think the dominator fans the best idea!
