13 years ago I setup my sound system and, at the time, when ordering from XTZ I could only get a passive sub with a sub amplifier or to wait a few months until their active subs were ready.
So I bought the Passive sub with the Sub Amp and they have been working perfect until last week when a humming noise starting come out of the Subwoofer. The humming noise continues even with no input. Long story short, the Sub Amplifier is broken.
The Subwoofer is an XTZ 99W12.18P
And the Sub Amp is the Sum AMP SA-1 (300Watts power) (They don't don't make these anymore)
Is there anything I can buy for less than £200 that can power the Subwoofer?
My thinking is that if I have to spend much more than £200, I might as well consider buying a new subwoofer. My max budget would be £450 for a new sub(no money at the moment) I think any sub I get at that price point will be a drop down in Quality from the one I have.
The only thing that might help is that I am in a much smaller room that I was when I bought the system. So, maybe a smaller subwoofer might actually be better? (It's a small attic room about 3m by 4m with a low ceiling, sloping at each end of the room) It doesn't take much volume for things to become extremely loud!!
Would appreciate any advice you guys can give.
