Chip technology is far more vulnerable to being duplicated by its nature, just like an MP3 can be duplicated far more easily than a vinyl record...

They "do thing's the old fashioned way" anyway. The chip is an extra layer of security. There are many more safeguards in place than just the chip.

Just to balance the debate maybe a little.

Van Beek was quoted as saying: "We're not claiming that terrorists will be able to do this to all passports today or that they will be able to do it tomorrow. But it does raise concerns over security that need to be addressed in a more public and open way."

Any device that you can write data too in inherently flawed in terms of security surely!?!
