Thanks david

Yeah - you're not allowed to leave the country any more, you have to get permission. It's for "security" reasons or whatever pathetic spin they want to put on it. I don't see how it's going to stop terrorism or criminals.

Times like this I'm glad I've got a Froggy passport as well.

they'll ask you "security" type of questions and ones which establish your intentions. a) are you a terrorist?
b) do you have suicidal tendencies?
c) sing the national anthem
d) is english your first language? If not why not?
e) why are you going away?
f) can we search your house for no good reason?
g) am I a jobsworth just making life difficult for people in this country?
h) when are you going away? (not that it matters as the passport will arrive 2 days after your departure)

Cynic? moi? Never!

The interview process takes about 30 minutes. It will be conducted in a friendly manner and will consist mainly of asking applicants to confirm facts about themselves, which someone attempting to steal their identity may not know.

How the hell do they know them then? Let me see, perhaps when you initially applied for the passport you supplied lots of personal details. I think I can see a slight flaw here.....

(I'm not really paranoid, it's not my fault they're all out to get me ;) )

lmfao like you'd say "oh sure i'm a terrorist, yes Im emo"

My wife had an interview to get a NI number (she's a US citizen), it was pretty easy as i'd read up before hand and knew that she fulfilled all the criteria, the officer asked a few basic questions and we were out in 5 minutes, some other people were in there for 45 minutes or more.

If you're sure you should be getting one then you have nothing to worry about.

It's not a hard interview (or so I've heard), it's just a bit on an inconvenience.

Thankfully, when I got my passport in October-September, I didn't need an interview. Strangely enough my passport actually arrived within a week of applying! Although I did phone up a few times prior, so I suspect I was already on their system.

lol, anyone remember the irish man (no, it's not a joke) who went to the US. They asked him the nature of his visit and he said "tourism" but because of his accent they thought he said "terrorism" and got locked up. Will try to find a link

It just proves that big brother isn't as good as they let on. If they have to ask these questions for a long standing british citizen it doesn't really say much. I guess they have to ask everyone the questions to appear fair.

I thought they asked;

What is your name?
What is your quest?
What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Then you have to compare and contrast Prince Hal and Harry Hotspur from the play Henry IV part I in no more than 500 words, referencing quotes where appropriate to highlight pertinent points.
