Went to the Passport and identity office yesterday for my passport interview. its a pity the laws now changed for it as now they actually ask you questions that the normal everyday 16 year old wouldnt know. which was great for me!

things like my family's date of birth's, the person who cosigned the form's age and where he/she works. was a big hastle and hoepfully ive passed the interview, however i did slip up on my mums date of birth and my siblings date of birth.

Anyone else had an experience with the new interview process with a passport?

im slightly worried that the 2 questions i got wrong may jepordise my interview so i wont get my passport.

yes its now law, well i beleive its only for your first passport but im not entirely sure,

the law was brought in sometime in 2007 unfortunately :(

its quite a formal interview aswell, the whole interview is recorded on tape and the person who is interviewing you asks you questions that a fraudster would notmally get caught up on. and when its all over they ask you if you wish to change the address it'll be delivered to (which could be a question asked just to see your responce, as a fraudster may want to change the address)

Also they're was a man sat in the waiting area obviously listening in on me and my mum talking. he then waits till the interview is finished and as you take the lift down, he takes the stairs down and waits outside out of view to catch your conversation on the way out. sneaky government!

Where are these interviews held? Near to your home or at the Ministry of Love?

was at the Passport and Identity office in Middlesbrough near where i live.

WOW.. that sounds truly dystopian,

it doesnt doesnt it, i didnt notice what he was doing until i was back in the car, but it shows they go to some lenghts to stop identity theft

ah well i can see why they do it though.

i suppose ive never thought of the goverment as being a watcher, and actually paying people to sit and watch people's behaviour on the way in/out of the building but i suppose it does have massive benefits like stopping fraud etc

that seemed abit harsh. in the whole thread your the only one who has actually been sarcastic and rude.

ive never been good with date of births, never will be, i know a lot of people on here wont be good. pointing it out, being sarcastic and then calling it pathetic is just abit too rude if you ask me.

Wow, that's laughable - so lets take an example:

Dave is born in 1983 and has a full track record of his existence through school, college, university and work. If Dave messes up on his answers does he get deported ....to the sea?

ha ha no.

the interview is only for your first passport either ever or in a while (under the new system)

therefore if you've had a newish passport already then they'res no need for you to go through the interview procedure.

and no if you've failed to get a passport (whic has already been stated is highly unlickely) i beleive you just have to sit through the interview again.

no deportation :D

Update!

My passport arrived today, via signed mail. therefore even with the slip-up's in the interview i still managed to pass it and im therefore allowed a passport.

Is it me, or does everyone seem to look realy bad on their passport photos? :D

Also to check that i got through the interview i phoned up the advice line on Friday to see if it had been dispatched, they said it was waiting for the Courier to pick it up. So basically i knew on Friday that i'd passed the interview and that i could have a passport, which is handy :)
