Hmm weird one, if you are EU with a valid national ID card then it can be up to the date of expiry, if not then it must be valid for 3 months following your date of departure.
Not quite sure where the UK comes into that though How long are you going for?
I shouldn't imagine it'll be a problem, though as above, I'm not really sure. The only time I've come across needing 6 months (or such) on a passport is when applying for visas, and given that you can travel throughout much of Europe without being stopped for a passport check at any point, I can't see you having any issues
hehe thanks for that input guys! i trie dlooking o na few passport sites but couldnt dig much up without ringing people that dont know hwo to speak english (Y)
im only going there for 4 (3nights) venice italy.. so nothing long term, going 18th february.
They will add unused months onto a new passport.
So if you apply for a new one now, your replacement one will be for 10 years and 5 months - so you don't lose out by applying early.
You've got to spend the money at some point and as you've got time now before you go you could avoid all possible chances of problems and just get it done.
It's what I'd do - so please see the above as simply my opinion
