Password protect folder on domain share

Is it possible to pass protect a folder which is located under a shared folder on a Domain?

I could change the permissions of the folder so that only this user can read/write/edit but am I correct in thinking that other users will still be able to view even if they cannot edit the files contained within this folder.?

If anyone could clarify or provide a solution if there is one I would appreciate it
