Password Protected Folder and Files (WinXP)

Hi All

I am having a bit of a problem, I have certain files which my Kids are not allowed to view, I dont want to Hide them and they may know how to show them again.

I want the Lock the folders with Passwords, This is really important to me so I dont mind buying an appillication, but then they can disabe the application, So id there another method with someone can suggests, or what is the best application to use.

Can't you just use seperate identities on the computer so the kids have their own login and you would have yours with your own password.

Yep, setup your account to keep your documents private, and only allow the kids limited access accounts.

Stick em in a rar file and rename it
bloody-dull-thing.sys

or something like

Just use Truecrypt ( http://www.truecrypt.org/ ) to create a highly encrypted, password protected virtual drive. Does exactly what you want and it's free

create a 7z passworded file, easy & fast to do, unbreakable and easy to back it up, unpack it and repack it before & after use

7zip it's an archiving program like WinZip or WinRAR but it's free and open source. I would recommend TrueCrypt though because you can create a TrueCrypt volume which you can store many files in and the volume is stored as a single file which you can call anything. You just unlock the volume when you need to access it's contents.
