Password Recovery - XP Pro

Hi guys,

so ive got a desktop here that i need to recover a password on it. Its XP Professional and i cannot get past it.

Does anyone know any good bootable password recovery tools i can use? there are a few about but i cant seem to find one that is 'free'.

Any help appreciated

http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/ is a boot cd you can use to just remove the password and is the easiest choice.

If you must recover it, use something like http://www.l0phtcrack.com/

I guess we'e talking about a user account password? You could try cracking it with Ophcrack, but it's probably easier and quicker simply to clear or reset it with this.

There's a step-by-step guide here if you need it, although the process is pretty self-explanatory really.

edit: lol... I'd have got in there first if I hadn't googled for that guide.
