Gents,

I've been asked to help a friend de-crypt a couple of files for his sister after her husband passed away (excel/word files) which show some of his company details.

Is there any reputable sites/software to do this?

Cheers,

KaHn

Can you give us more information? Like what the files were encrypted with? Some people around here might be able to point you in a cheap or free direction.

Its just a standard windows/excel password, nothing special, I've been looking at something like guaword or something similar?

If it is an older .doc or .xls then guaword or this should do it, but if it is the newer docx, I don't know of any freeware, plus you'd have to brute force the password, which probably won't work if it was a decent one.

Forgot about this thread. Did you manage to sort something out?

If it's Excel 2010 then there are ways to crack it by opening it in 7-zip and replacing some files. The above probably does something similar.
