So you are all aware, this has been fixed. - For some time people were unable to reset their passwords on the forum and it was having to be done manually.

Most of you that are on the forum already probably didn't even realise this was broken, however we have fixed this and it will be easier for users to reset their passwords if it is forgotten. So if you are reading this, and not signed in your forum account and had troubles signing in, try now and it will work. :)

Any chance of the forum being upgraded any time soon to something like XenForo?

Would be nice to get some of the features included in the more current software packages.

Responsive forum
User tagging
Post likes (and ratings)
Better youtube and other 3rd party content embedding
Auto scaling of large images to fit window size
Better password security and 2 factor authentication

+ Loads of other things that come standard in XF these days

:)

+1 to this chap's suggestion! The forum is in dire need of an upgrade, XenForo is a lovely piece of kit.

The old vB software is becoming very archaic! C'mon sort it out. ;)

This doesn't work unless I am missing something blatantly obvious.

When I click 'reset password' it just tells me I have entered an email that is not recognised, even though I had no option to enter an email.

You can ignore my request to reset since I remembered what I changed my password to :p

I see this stuff all the time and for such a high traffic forum i am surprised theirs been nothing from the Admin team.

Inb4 if it aint broke, don't fix it.

This times 1000.

Love how OCUK staff just ignore the post however, rather than saying yes, no or maybe.

OcUK are probably afraid of breaking something if they upgrade the forum software. If the whole thing was backed up then they have nothing to worry about.

Why do you assume it's not backed up?

Hopefully they haven't responded as it's currently in top secret discussion behind the scenes and they don't want to get our hopes up ;)

I'm sure it would require a decent amount of extra coding in order to port any existing add ons or coding to XenForo, but it would definitely be worth it.

A few things off the top of my head would be the trust system. I think there are two 3rd party feedback systems available, how suitable they would be I'm not sure.

The trust here ties into emailing users and protects the recipients email address unless they reply. This would probably require an add on. Unless they used the personal conversation system, which would be nice.

I'm not sure why they don't have it active on here, perhaps to relieve themselves of responsibility of storing private messages on their server so they don't have to deal with them, which is fair enough.

I'm guessing it would need an add-on to tie in with the main site too to enable free shipping for loyal members.

They'd need to port over the keyword highlighter that links to products/companies on the main site when written in posts.

Would need an add on for the mafia avatars, but I can't imagine that would be very difficult as it's just displaying an image based on post count.

I can't think of any other obvious features on this site though, unless there's a lot of other stuff installed behind the scenes.

It would be so nice to make the switch. For a company that prides themselves on catering to the computer and tech enthusiast, the tech behind the forum certainly doesn't portray the best image. (Granted it's still probably one of the best/cleanest vBulletin site I've used).

One of the members here is a staff member at XF and carries out conversions from other forums software professionally. He's worked on some very big boards. So I'm sure if they needed some advise on how to proceed he could guide them. Now that I think about it, I think he even developed or commissioned one of the XF trust systems too.

The forgotten password link is still not working for me. For some reason I can access the site from my work laptop using Chrome but anywhere else when I enter the password that has been saved by Chrome on my work laptop it tells me that I have entered an incorrect password. Can't even change my password within User CP as it tells me that my current password is incorrect.

I've sent an email to the Admins to see if they can help.

EDIT:
Actually, looking at the FAQ it suggests that the Admins should be contacted if you need to reset your password so if an Admin comes across this post could they please email me a password reset link.
