hi, if i lap the cpu and hsf then they both have flat surfaces then should i still apply hsf paste or not? cuase the paste is for uneven surface but scince i laped it then i wont need it right??

also what am i supose to remove the old paste with? i was told to use achol by my friend but i dont wana see my cpu burst into flames XD
 
You will still need to add some thermal compound between the two surfaces.
Alcohol will be fine for cleaning.

even though you have lapped your hsf and cpu there will still be microscoppic imperfections where air will be trapped,air is a great insulator so the thermel paste will illiminate that,if you have a fair bit of paste on that needs cleaning off use a razer blade or a stanley blade to get the majority off then use iso to clean the rest,nothing will burst into flames lol...alcohol will evaperate:)also make sure you use a good thermal compound i use formula5 silver thermal compound and it does bring the temps down:)
 
By alcohol we all mean Isopropyl Alcohol, or something above 95% - the higher the better. Don't go pouring your favourite (or least favourite) tipple over the CPU!
