Patching Cisco Console (25) Cable Into a Patch Pannel

As the title says really, is it possible to take the a standard Rj45 to 9 Pin D-Sub Cisco Console cable, strip off the D-Sub connector and patch it into a patch panel?
 
I'm pretty sure you could just use a straight though cable, and then have a proper console cable at the other end. (i'm sure i've done that in the past)

correct, just a straight through cat5 will work fine, no need to start cutting up console leads. I do this all the time to patch routers in the lab back to my desk through the structured cabling...
 
Off topic slightly, how nice do the RJ45 connectors look on those Cisco console leads? Really clear and shiny.
