Patchy wireless network :(

Hi all,

Recently I've started having problems with my wireless network which until now has been working flawlessly. I've changed nothing.

Basically, every so often it will disconnect the network and then immediatly reconnect it again. Whilst this doesn't interupt my browsing it does kick me off games etc.

Also, occasionally, it'll disconnect and then simply not reconnect. Clicking 'Repair' each time it does this restores connectivity.

I can now no longer go out and leave stuff downloading with every expectation it'll be done when I get back as 5 times out of 10 the wireless has disconnected for no apparent reason.

There is 15 metres tops between my PC and the Speedtouch 580i Wireless router, its virtually line of sight and I've not had problems like this before.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Tried changing the wireless channel?

Sounds like inteference that's suddenly arrived from somewhere, but if you're only 15m away, why not cable it?

Things to do (skip anything you've already done)
(is this a laptop or desktop? what wireless card? built in or USB/PCMCIA)

Try changing the channel anyway
Reboot your router
Update firmware (Router) - Do this using a wired connex NOT wireless
Update drivers on your PC
