How do.

I really need to get some blinds up on the patio door but I'm undecided on the style.

It's a single swing open door (swings out) which is full glass which then has 2 thinner windows on each side (1 above the other so 4 thin glass panels in total and the top 1 of each side open outwards like little doors).

Pretty much the same as this:

I was looking at Perfect Fit blinds however the opening side windows on the top are too narrow (180mm) for this so I'm guessing that's out.

So I have a few options:

1. A single large full width roller blind.
2. 3x roller blinds (1 for the big door and one each for the side windows, all full height)
3. A single large vertical blinds with centre opening (opens like a set of curtains)
4. Perfect fit blind for the main door and full height roller blinds for the side windows.

Any suggestions welcome chaps.

2? if the blinds were attached to the individual door panels and they swing outwards, couldn't they easily get wet/dirty
3? (like in the image) the only solution that wouldn't clatter in any breeze ? although if they were up to the ceiling it's too dominating, as opposed to being recessed into door frame ,
do you have space at the door sides for open curtains to be clear of doors

Do you anticipate any kind of electric/remote control that might suggest single curtain/3 solution.

find a colour/pattern that is cozy at nighttime when closed ! white vertical blind panels in the office but not in living room.

Appreciated so far guys.

@jpaul - if it was the roller blinds (option 1 or 2) then they would fit in the recess. They wouldn't get dirty really due to the width of the frame protecting them. Also, I'd likely go a dark colour like grey (yeah yeah, I know but I can't afford to change them all) to match the rest of the blinds in the house.

Same with option 3 (Vertical). Fitted to recess in a dark colour as, like you, white just seems too.officey.

The issue with the triple roller blind is converting them to motorised/smart units at some point. I'd have to go with a proper built Smart solution.

@itsallaboutyou - unfortunately I don't have a huge amount of money for that idea albeit it's a good one.

At the moment, the vertical blinds seem the most practical solution. Its that "looking like an office" feel that I am worried about although I feel it might be mitigated with dark grey blinds (walls are white, cabinets are light cream shaker style with a dark brown wood worktop and floor is very light grey Amtico)

A cheap option would be perfect fit for the door and privacy film for the side panels. The privacy film isn't as naff as it sounds, and comes in lots of different patterns. We put it on a side window when we installed a downstairs toilet, rather than replace the glass and it looks good. It's only a few quid lost if it looks terrible.:D
