Hi

I bought some new bits and this Viper memory seemed to have fairly good reviews.

At the moment I've just chosen the XMP 4000 profile on the Gigabyte x570 Pro board.

Timings set to 19-19-19-39 @ 1.35v.

All works fantastically well. Just wondering if it's worth overclocking them at all. When using the calculator it doesn't really import any data so I'm at a loss on what to use on it (it has been a while) so wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

M.

At 4000MHz your not getting the most out of it believe it or not.

I highly doubt your FCLK is at 2000MHz. The max is around 1900MHz and your memory is meant to be double that.

So the first thing for you to do is actually put memory to stock 2133MHz or what ever it is with out the DOCP profile and set your FCLK to 1900MHz.

Boot in to windows and see if it's all good. I'd suggest playing a few games for 30mins. If everything seems well then your good for 3800MHz on the ram.

Then it's a matter of getting the lowest latencies at that speed.

In essence your FCLK determines what speed to run your ram at. So find what your FCLK tops out at and then run your ram at double that speed.

Then tighten timings.

As a side note you haven't mentioned what chip you have.

That's good advice ^.

Would be nice if we had a google sheet and everyone shared the FCLK they are running at.

Thanks @opethdisciple @Threepwood (is that you Guybrush? ;))

I'll take a good look - with the XMP profile it did seem to hit around 1900+ (this was on AMD Ryzen Master and CPUZ - I can't remember the exact number at this precise moment) but I'll start upping it tonight and see what happens!

Thanks for your help.
