Pauses

Not long ago I installed a WD 2TB Black drive alongside my 2*80GB SSDs in RAID 0. I've got my Steam folder on the 2TB drive but I seem to be getting pauses. It's really quite annoying! I've gone through full formats and I've changed ports/cables.

Speedwise the drive gets through HDTach fine and SMART isn't reporting any errors, however it's highly annoying!

I have an 800D case so I was thinking the add in card (which has SATA/power connectors) may have been causing it.

could be the drive spinning down to save power, then having to spin up again as its called for.

got any power saving modes set within windows.

I've just swapped it to the Marvell SATA controller on my motherboard...still have the issue.

I doubt it's the controller.

Hmm I've installed the Intel RST drivers however it Windows still defaults to the old MS drivers. I doubt this is the issue as this is usally the case, but still!
