Pay more for quality?

I was looking earlier at the new MSI 890FX board which has supposedly high quality components. Would you pay more for boards that offered versions with better components?

Having just switched from some cheap asrock board to a really highspec gigabyte one I would say it's definately worth it. Espiecally if you want to overclock. However I think it's also very important you look at some reviews for the board you want and preferablly ones that test the same cpu you will be using. I was gonna get a x48 chipset board but then I was told that the P45 boards are a lot better for overclocking quad cores.

I always go for the best motherboard (or any other component) I can afford at the time. I guess it all comes down to your own specific needs e.g most bang for your buck, latest features, overclocking ability, future proofing etc...

Aww man! Look at my specs... don't tell me that now.

I researched my rig to the Nth degree and had high intentions of OCing when the time came. I looked deeply into my Gigabyte and got an X48 based on performance over the P45 and didn't think about the OC ability (which may still have been the correct decision considering that I don't intend to OC till a few years).

Did you find that the X48 was impossible to OC or that it did it inefficiently?

I don't know I never got one. Someone on here just told me they don't OC 45nm Quad chips as well as P45 boards. I'm sure you'll still be able to get a fair bit of extra juice out of it though.

Ok thanks mate, I'll just keep em crossed. I may trying some OCing now before all the lads OCing the Q9450 vanish from here.
