With inflation at a 30year high, what do expect as a pay rise this year?

Maybe a poll?

Nothing, self employed
<3%
3-5%
5-7%
>7%

I work for a unionised company and will be expecting 5-7%, hoping for more.

I'm expecting <1% as usual, along with some kind of excuse why the company can't afford more despite earning something like £8bn last year.

2020 the excuse was the company didn't make as much profit as expected (lol), so pay rises have to be controlled.
2021 the excuse was the company made loads of money, but they expect 2022 to be harder so pay rises have to be controlled.

16%, private, 10% last year, roll unchanged but earn my keep. Misses not been as lucky, pretty much nil for several years but quit her well paid job to do what she loves at essentially min wage. Like that scene from American Beauty, one day I'll pack it in as well, to pack shelves or something .

4.7 percent

But it will (I believe) be my one and only pay rise. Which means probably leave the year after.

Big one for me is I finish paying my student loan in April. Been paying 180 a month so that's going to be amazing
It's going to feel like a big bonus at exactly the right time!

324 pounds remaining!

Probably means what will be a 10 percent pay rise.. If you count not paying around 2k a year gross from student loan!

Got 7% last month, but nothing the year before, and the increase in my gas & electricity bill in April will wipe that out on its own. Coupled with the NI increase and other general bills going uo, we're probably going to be £3-400/month worse off overall compared to this time 2 years ago (thats even taking into account the ~£150 saving from not commuting, so more like £500+). Fun.

Icing on the cake will be when/if they expect us back in the office as well, at which point I'm going to have to ask for more or find a new job :p

Haha I had this mentality too..by month 2 I'd already allocated it :(

Yes but I have shifted roles so probably doesn't count.

Aren't most people's pay reviews towards the end of the year anyway? Or are we predicting much in advance?

That's a good question. Mine have either been mid summer or during the new financial year to align with budgets. Bonuses have always been paid in April normally for me too.

Feels weird. 4 years ago i was on 27k in a few months 44. Back then I'd never have thought this day would come so soon.

Yeah mines already "allocated" too. At least to holidays which isn't so bad.

I didn't tick the 10 percent plus box. But really that's what it's going to feel like!
