I'm placing an order on Gearbest (Chinese website) for £380 and it says it comes with 1 year warranty but was wondering should I pay using my Barclays debit card or Paypal that is linked to my debit card for some protection in case anything goes wrong or that they don't honour the warranty?

I know that using a credit card is the best option with Section 75 but I don't have a credit card and Paypal has 180 days buyer protection but what about debit card with the bank?

Paypal for its protection although you should have chargeback protection with debit card.
If I pay using Paypal linked to my debit card, would I get protection with Barclays as well or just with Paypal?

Also, I have looked on Barclays website regards to debit card chargeback and it says "120 days of discovering the problem, or 540 days from the transaction date."

Not sure but I believe that if the purchase is through Paypal but not like loading your paypal balance then you do. If you just load up then pay with paypal you just get paypal protection for the actual purchase. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

You can do a debit card chargeback even if you pay via PayPal.

Source: I had some numpty try to do one after they bought a phone clearly advertised as broken from me on Ebay and then claimed it was broken
