Up until now I have never been charged for using Edge or GPRS (when in a non 3G area).

But today, I was browsing the net on my iPhone via GPRS, and I got a message pop up on my screen saying 'blah blah blah you need 17p at least call time'.

So I backed out, and checked my balance, and it had drained my balance to 0.00! Even though that I got my usual text message from O2 saying my Web and wifi bolt is active?

Have they always charged for GPRS? or is it something new?

Sounds like 02 lied, because web use via GPRS, Edge, 3G etc should be included in the bolt-on.

Wi-Fi is a seperate bolt-on which gives access to the Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots.. incase you bought that by accident?

how much were you charged? Ring them up tell them and claim the money back. You shouldn't be charged for EDGE/GPRS.

I don't think you'll have been charged, you need at least 17p call time to browse the internet whether it's GPRS, Edge or 3G.

maybe your iphone's internet has expired as it originally got 12month to use when you bought it from start.

iPhone 3G hasn't even been out a year yet on contract, let alone PAYG, so it can't have expired yet.

is your cellular data network still set to payandgo.02.co.uk ? For some reason mine switched over to idata.02.co.uk the other day and wouldn't work.

This happened to me when I ported my number over, albeit it an 02-to-02 transfer. The bolt-on disappeared during the transfer and ended up using up all my credit (£17 worth). Rang them up and they added the bolt-on and refunded me the credit straight away :)
