So we are meant to pay now for the PS3s potential. Hmmmm, how about we wait to see if it realises it and for the inevitable price cuts. I really cannot think of any more ways Sony can get me less interested in getting a PS3, that they have not already done. Wouldn't surprise me if they managed though.

Thing is, whatever console you are buying, a certain portion of it is the expected potential that it holds, as you really aren't going to see what any console is truly capable of until developers get used to coding, and then after long development.

I can see fully why the PS3 has potential, and on paper, it should have far far more potential than either the 360 or the Wii, but in reality, it likely wont be a big enough gap. The only real big potential that the PS3 will offer in my opinion is Blu-Ray, and that's it, with games taking advantage of the extra space for far more content etc, although the 360 can overcome this in parts by using more disks, but is just a little more hassle for the 360 owner.

well what i see is i can have a cheaper system now that will play the games that i want now knowing that there will be hardly any difference graphic wise between ps3 and xbox360, and knowing in 5 years time when the need for HDTV and BLU-RAY has probably become cheap and mainstream enough to afford a decent setup that the xbox360 will be on its next next gen system and will surpass the ps3 anyway which will then be outdated and underpowered as Sony have already stated they want a 10year life span for the ps3, this in itself has put me off along with its high costs at launch for basically all i want is a games machine

People will buy it if they want it, I was surprised by the price. No doubt ms will have something ready to try and knock the ps3 release, time will tell if its a success.
